Williamsburg County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) offers automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training to the public. Classes are appropriate for all ages. If interested, please call our office at 843-355-5195 to schedule a class.

Heartsaver CPR Course (Adult, Child & Infant)

The Heartsaver CPR course is a course that teaches lay rescuer how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies including cardiac arrest and choking for adult, child, and infant victims. Learn to recognize the warning signs of heart attack, stroke, and breathing difficulties in adults and children. Certification cards are mailed after completion of the course.

Heartsaver AED

The Heartsaver AED course teaches the basic techniques of adult CPR and how to use an AED. Students also learn about using barrier devices in CPR and giving first aid for choking. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of four major emergencies: heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest, and foreign-body airway obstruction. Certification cards are mailed after completion of the course.

CPR for Family & Friends

The CPR for Family and Friends course teaches rescuers skills in CPR and relief of choking (foreign-body airway obstruction). It presents information about the American Heart Association adult and pediatric Chain of Survival and signs of heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke, choking in adults, reduce risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), prevention of the most common fatal injuries in infants and children.
